An orthopedic surgeon at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Prof. Olayinka Adegbehingbe, who was kidnapped on Sunday, has revealed that the ransom of #5.045 million was paid for his release.
Adegbehingbe stated this during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria at his residence on the university campus. The professor while speaking stated that he is hale and healthy, and he also attributed his release to the power of God.

The Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, has said that Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, is like Afenifere and Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo socio-cultural groups and thus should not be criminalized.
Shehu also defended the meeting between the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu and the leadership of the Miyetti Allah. Speaking on Channels TV’s Sunrise Daily on Tuesday, the presidential spokesman told Nigerians not to politicize the meeting.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday promised not to let Nigerians down in providing effective and result-oriented leadership that safeguards and ensures a better life for citizens.He made this known in a statement released by his media aide, Garba Shehu, and sent to Naija News on Tuesday.

PDP Accuses Buhari Of Admitting To Failed Government
The Peoples Democratic Party recently accused President Muhammadu Buhari of admitting to failure in governance after his alleged confession that anger, frustration, and disenchantment among the youths are responsible for the escalation of kidnapping, abduction and other crimes in Nigeria.The opposition party stated that this is a confirmation that President Buhari was aware the youths did not vote for him during the Presidential election.
The party in a statement through its spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan said, “This self-confession by Mr President is equally an admission that he has no solutions, and points to the ugly situation that would continue to confront the nation if the stolen Presidential mandate is not retrieved in the courts.”

Senate President Bukola Saraki has described the latest move against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as a mere witch-hunt.
The Senate President was reacting to EFCC’s reaction to a report that the anti-graft agency had written a letter to the Kwara State Government demanding for all details of salaries, allowances, estacode or any other entitlement enjoyed by Saraki during his tenure as governor of the state between 2003 and 2011.
In a statement on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yusuph Olaniyonu, Saraki argued that the exercise by the EFCC was only aimed at settling scores, laced with malicious and partisan motives.

Court Grants PDP’s Adeleke Bail, Adjourns Case
A magistrate court sitting in Mpape, Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, has granted Ademola Adeleke, the lawmaker representing Osun west senatorial district, 2 million naira bail.
