Kano Approves Bill For Creation Of Four Emirates

The amendment of the local government and chieftaincy affairs law, paving way for the decentralization of the Kano emirate council has been approved by the Kano state house of assembly.

The effect of the law is that four more first class emirs in the state will be created which includes Rano, Karaye, Bichi and Gaya emirates.

The law was amended by the Kano assembly after a petition was filed before the house by one Ibrahim Chambers.

The petitioner demanded the upgrade of some traditional rulers to the status of first class emirs.
