Senate, Police Reach Agreement On Curbing Insecurity In Nigeria

The presence of the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu at the closed session of the Senate on Tuesday saw the duo reach a decision on putting an end to the insecurity in Nigeria.

The discussion between the Senators and the IGP which started around 11:20 am, ended at 1:47 pm.

The Senate President, Bukola Saraki, during the discussion, reeled out the issues of the discussion and the agreement towards curbing insecurity across the country.

“We deliberated on areas of banditry, robbery, terrorist activities and other security challenges in the country.

“The Nigeria Police promised to put more efforts to ameliorate the situation and hoped to address the menace squarely.”

“IGP also promised to address areas that have to do with the indiscipline of officers that have been found wanting, particularly the alleged abuse of some ladies by some policemen who were at a night club in Abuja.”

“Adamu has assured that efforts would be made on the situation of insecurity along Abuja-Kaduna highway and also on the area of intelligence gathering.”

“The Senate also promised to appropriate adequate funding to enable the police combat the necessary stress to our security”.
