‘We can’t explain what’s happened’ – Arsenal’s fate in Chelsea’s hands, admits Ozil

Arsenal’s dressing room could be an interesting place before Sunday’s game against Brighton at the Emirates.

The Gunners have plenty to focus on when the Seagulls visit north London in what will be the final home game of the season for Unai Emery’s side.

It will be an emotional afternoon in the capital as both Aaron Ramsey and Petr Cech bid farewell before their summer departures, with Ramsey heading to Juventus and Cech retiring after a long and illustrious career.

But, despite all of the various backdrops to the game, Arsenal’s players could be forgiven if their attention was elsewhere in the hours leading up to Sunday’s afternoon kick-off.

That’s because Chelsea are in action earlier in the day when they play host to Watford at Stamford Bridge and the Gunners’ top four hopes now rest in the hands of their London rivals.

Should the Blues win both of their final two games of the Premier League season – against Watford and Leicester – then Emery’s side will not be able to finish in the top four, no matter their results against Brighton and Burnley over the next seven days.

So they need Chelsea to slip up, something Mesut Ozil is well aware of.

Xhaka worried away form might ‘kill’ Arsenal as it did last year

Granit Xhaka is frustrated that Arsenal’s woeful away form threatens to ‘kill’ their season, as it did last year.

The Switzerland international confronted the fact that the Gunners record away from the Emirates is all that stands in the way of a top-four finish. They have won just six of 18 games away this year, and are relying on other teams to slip up to make the top four. Last year they won just four of 19 and were 12 points adrift of fourth.

Xhaka wants his club to show some of the form they’ve shown at home where they have been dominant this year.

Arsenal news: PSG star ‘satisfied’ with Gunners talks

PSG midfielder Adrien Rabiot’s agent has spoken to a number of clubs about his summer exit, including Arsenal.

Veronique Rabiot, Adrien’s mother, also acts as his agent and has reportedly “expressed her client’s satisfaction” in joining either Arsenal, Juventus or Inter Milan on a free transfer this summer, according to FCInterNews.

Rabiot is out of contract in the summer, but the lack of transfer fee involved in a move will lead to high wages – Rabiot is apparently demanding €8m-per-year, plus a €10m fee to be paid to his mother for brokering a deal.
