Former Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has denied dumping the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s main opposition party for the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria’s ruling party.

Naija News reports that the PDP chieftain denied the allegation in a post on the micro-blogging site, Twitter, on Friday morning, May 3.

This online news platform understands that some reports quoted the former minister to have joined APC because he was “proud” of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The report came after Fani-Kayode commended President Buhari for securing the release of Zainab Aliyu, an innocent Nigerian, who was detained by the Saudi Arabia authorities over alleged drug trafficking.

“Securing the release of Zainab from execution in a Saudi prison is a great achievement by @MBuhari.She was due to be executed for a crime she never committed. Buhari saved her life by intervening and for the first time in 4 years I am proud to be a Nigerian! Welcome home Zainab,” Fani-Kayode had written about Buhari on April 30.

Days after that tweet reports emerged stating that the President’s top critic has dumped the PDP for the APC.

Quashing the rumour on Friday morning, the former Minister wrote: “Reports that I said I am “proud of Buhari” and that I have “dumped PDP” and “joined APC” are false. Those that are peddling such vile mendacities and perfidious falsehood are insane. I commended Buhari for getting the young lady in Saudi Arabia out of prison but it stops there,” Fani-Kayode added.
