NBC DG Kawu Arraigned, Granted Bail

An Abuja Division of the Federal High Court has on Thursday granted bail to the Director-General of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Modibbo Kawu.

Naija News understands that Kawu who is the Chairman of Pinnacle Communications Limited is facing charges of corruption in the tone of N2.5 billion.

Kawu was charged alongside two others including Dipo Onifade and Lucky Omoluwa.

The NBC boss was indicted for allegedly misappropriating N2.5 billion, a scandal that could slow down the nationwide rollout of the digital transmission of home television signals.

They are being prosecuted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on a 12-count charge, Premium Times reports.

While pleading for bail,  the defendants applied for bail through their counsel.

The ruling judge, Folashade Giwa said the crime for which the defendants were charged is bailable, and granted them bail on conditions ordering them to pay N100 million each with two sureties in like sum.
