Akapabio, Amaechi Reconcile For APC’s Interest

Two chieftains of the All Progressives Congress in the South-South region, Rotimi Amaechi, and Godswill Akpabio have met and agreed to work together for the progress of the party in the region.

According to information gathered by Naija News correspondent, the two leaders met on Sunday in Abuja and agreed to put aside their individual differences.

Hon. Amaechi, is the current minister of transport and Mr Akpabio is a former Senate minority leader. Both men are former governors of Rivers and Akwa Ibom states respectively.

The details of their meeting was made public by Festus Keyamo (SAN), spokesperson for President Buhari’s 2019 election campaign in a statement on Monday.

According to reports by Sahara Reporters, Mr Keyamo said he and another party leader, Nasiru Danu, one of the directors of logistics for the Buhari campaign council midwifed the meeting, which was at the instance of Mr Akpabio.

This online medium gathered that the meeting took place at the residence of Mr Danu in the Asokoro district of Abuja.

The meeting which lasted several hours, had both Amaechi and Akpabio frankly talk about their differences from their days as governors in PDP and members of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum.

The duo also reviewed the fate of the APC in the South-South particularly as it concerns the just-concluded election and identified areas for future improvement.

Mr Keyamo in his statement disclosed that both leaders agreed to “close ranks and work in unison for the overall interest of the party in the country.”

“They promised to put behind them all previous perceived misgivings between them and to give a positive direction to the teeming supporters of the party across the country.”
