Police Arrest Suspected Killer Of Ex-Super Eagles Player’s Father

Operatives of the Anambra state police command have arrested one Ikechukwu Emilie for his alleged participation in the kidnap and murder of an 86 year-old Chief James Iloanyusi, father of Ex-Super Eagles player, Chikelu Iloanyausi.

Naija News reports that the Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), Haruna Mohammadu, disclosed this to newsmen in a statement on Saturday in Awka, the state capital.

Mohammadu, revealed that the suspect was apprehended at his hideout in Anaku, Ayamelum Local Government Area of the state.

The Police PRO recalled that the suspect had escaped arrest in 2014 when he jumped down from Phix Hotel Abagana, a three storey building with handcuffs on.

Emilie was said to have been terrorising resident in Anaku and Otoucha axis of the state since he escaped arrest in 2014.

“At about 1:30pm, following credible intelligence, Police detectives attached to the Command Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) arrested the suspect Ikechukwu Emlilie, aged 30, in his hideout at Anaku in Anyamelum LGA of Anambra State,’’ he said.

Mohammadu said that the police have commenced a full investigation, adding that efforts are already been made to arrest other accomplice involved in the killing of Chief Iloanyusi.

He assured that the suspects would be brought to justice.

Chief Iloenyosi was reportedly kidnapped on Nov. 25, 2013 on his way to mass. He was found and confirmed dead after the family paid ransom to the alleged kidnappers.
