1. Shi’ite Protesters Break Into National Assembly Complex, Force House To Adjourn Plenary

Some members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) on Wednesday, broke into the premises of the national assembly, forcing federal lawmakers to adjourn plenary.

The IMN members were said to have overpowered security operatives before breaking down the first gate which allowed them gain access to the complex.

2. Osun Guber: Group Accuses Tinubu Of Planning To Compromise Appeal Court Ruling

A Civil Rights Organization has raised alarm over an alleged plot by the National Leader of the All progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu to compromise the ruling of the Appeal Court in the effort of the party to nullify the ruling of the Tribunal in the state.

Recall that Naija News had reported that the governorship election tribunal in the state declared the Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Ademola Adeleke as the winner of the election.

3. National Assembly: Confusion In Dogara’s Camp Over Gbajabiamila

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, and his loyalists are in a fix over who to nominate that will challenge current House Leader, Femi Gbajabiamila, who has been adopted by the APC for the speakership of the 9th Assembly.

Sources within the National Assembly disclosed that Dogara and his loyalists had been meeting for the past weeks to decide on who to bring out to face the Gbajabiamila, but that they could not zero in on anybody.

4. Senate Postpones Passage Of 2019 Budget Estimates

The Nigerian Senate has postponed the passage of the 2019 budget till Tuesday next week, Naija News understands.

The lawmakers in the upper chamber of the National Assembly took the decision on Wednesday during plenary.

5. Falana Reveals How Obasanjo Caused Nigeria’s Problems

Femi Falana (SAN) has accused former President Olusegun Obasanjo of contributing to the problems facing the country.

He noted that the country would have been able to overcome its problems if Obasanjo had not rejected the Minority Report of the Constitutional Drafting Committee of 1976, co-authored by Segun Osoba and Yusufu Bala Usman.

6. Lawyer Sues Buhari, FG, NJC Over Appointment Of Tanko Muhammad As CJN

A lawyer, Malcom Omirhobo, has filed a suit before the Federal High Court in Abuja seeking an order to prevent the appointment of the acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad, as the substantive CJN.

The plaintiff alleged in the suit that Muhammad made himself available as a tool that was used in the violation of the Constitution, especially with regards to the “illegal” removal of Justice Walter Onnoghen.

7. Buhari: Borno Declares Thursday Work Free Day

Borno State Government has declared Thursday public holiday to enable residents to come out to welcome visiting President Muhammadu Buhari.

This was announced on Wednesday by the state Commissioner for Information, Dr Mohammed Bulama.

8. We Have Enough Doctors In Nigeria, Those Leaving The Country Can Go – Ngige

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, says medical doctors travelling out of the country are not contributing to brain drain in Nigeria.

The minister added that the country has a surplus of medical personnel and therefore, those who feel they want to relocate to other countries in search of greener pastures are free to do so.

9. Oyetola Vs Adeleke: Tribunal Takes Decision On Osun Gov’ship Election

The Osun State Election Appeal Tribunal has reserved ruling in the four appeals filed against the judgment of the Osun State Election Petition Tribunal.

The chairman of the five-man panel of justices of the appeal tribunal, Justice Jummai Sankey on Wednesday, said dates for the ruling would be made known to the parties involved.

10. FG Says Saraki, Dogara Never Worked With President Buhari

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has said the incoming administration will forestall a repeat of the conduct of the 8th National Assembly which it said worked at cross purposes with the executive arm of government between 2015 and 2019.

The minister stated this on Wednesday when he featured on a National TV programme, “Good Morning Nigeria.”
