Atiku Under Attack Over Comment On National Grid Collapse

Reports reaching Naija News suggest that the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar might be forced to sue the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu.

This is as the Atiku-Obi presidential election petition legal team has decried the refusal of the electoral umpire to produce polling documents from the February the 23rd, 2019 presidential elections despite the order of the Court of Appeal, directing the commission to allow them access.

A member of the presidential election petition legal team, Silas Onu says INEC has continued to deny them access to the materials which had been inspected and paid for in the previous week.

Onu says that they might be forced to file for contempt against the INEC chairman and other officers of the commission if they do not give a positive response as soon as possible.

He insisted that they will continue to follow up until the commission complies with the court order, and stressed that efforts to meet the legal team of INEC have been futile.

While reacting to the claims by the Atiku’s team, the director of voter education and publicity, INEC, Oluwole Osaze-Uzzi says the claims are not true.

He challenged the Legal team of Atiku to go back to the court and file a complaint if the PDP is insisting on that position.
