1. President Buhari Extends Tanko Muhammad’s Tenure As CJN

President Muhammadu Buhari has extended Tanko Muhammad‘s appointment as the acting Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) by another three months. According to a statement issued on Saturday by Soji Oye, a spokesperson for the NJC, President Buhari sent the recommendation to the National Judicial Council and the supervisory body approved the appointment on Thursday.

2. NNPC Gives Fresh Update On Increase Of Fuel Pump Price

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has declared that it has no plan to increase the current petrol (fuel) pump price of N145 per litre. Naija News reports that the assurance is coming after Ibe Kachikwu, the Minister of State, Petroleum, had said that there has been an increase in the landing cost of petroleum products.

3. Aisha Buhari To Establish ‘Muhammadu Buhari University’

Wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, Aisha Buhari has unveiled her plans to establish a private university to be named after her husband as “Muhammadu Buhari University.” Naija News reports that the first lady of Nigeria unveiled her plans during a town hall meeting she organized in collaboration with concerned indigenes in Yola, the Adamawa state capital.

4. Easter: CAN’s Advice To Christians, Muslims, FG Over Killings

President of the Christian Asociation of Nigeria (CAN), Rev Samson ‘Supo Ayokunle has urged Nigerians to love one another “as Christ loved us and gave His life for us! adding that it is the lack of love that has led to religious intolerance, killings, and violence in the country. The Christian leader in a statement sent to Naija News today called on the Federal government “to secure the nation for the purposes of safety of lives, property and free movement of people. Kidnapping, increasing wave of armed robbery and resurgence of insurgency coupled with relentless attacks by ethnic militiamen are a great concern for patriotic Nigerians and an embarrassment to the nation. These issues should be addressed squarely, promptly and fairly.

5. INEC Server: DSS Speak On News That It Arrested, Tortured Seven INEC Staff

The Department of State Services (SSS) has debunked a said rumour that it arrested and detained seven members of staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). This is as a social media report had alleged that the SSS arrested some ICT staff of INEC for disclosing the commission’s server identity number to the Peoples Democratic Party and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar. in the just concluded elections, Premium Times reports.

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has described as ‘outrageous practice’ the practice of paying outgoing governors, who were not re-elected, billions of naira aside pension and other benefits. This is as findings revealed that Fourteen governors, their deputies and 434 state lawmakers who will not be returning to the government will be going home with N2.06bn.
