A former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, says the conviction and dismissal of Justice Walter Onnoghen as the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) by the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) is not surprising.

Naija News had reported earlier that the CCT found Walter Onnoghen, who recently resigned as CJN, guilty of false declaration of assets in breach of the provisions of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) for public officials.

Delivering its judgement earlier today, Naija News reports the three-man panel chaired by Danladi Umar, therefore, removed him from the office as CJN and Chairman of National Judicial Council (NJC).

Apparently displeased with the judgment, FFK as he is fondly called, said Onnoghen’s conviction and dismissal is “part of a wider plan, an unfolding script and a hidden agenda.”

The People Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain said Nigerians should brace themselves for more.

Fani-Kayode noted that Onnoghen’s suspension shows that the “people get the type of government that they deserve,” in what appears to be a swipe at the President Muhammadu Buhari administration.

“The conviction of CJN Onnoghen by the CCT is not surprising.

“It is part of a wider plan, an unfolding script and a hidden agenda. Nigerians should brace themselves for more.

“They say a people get the type of govt. that they deserve. I weep not for Onnoghen, I weep for Nigeria,” he tweeted.
