Ajax Shock Footballing World With Juve Win

Ajax football club of Holland on Tuesday, defeated Italian giants, Juventus 2-1 in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final game.

On aggregate, the Dutch side won the game 3-2 having played out a 1-1 draw with Juve in the first leg of their encounter a week ago.

Ajax has been in scintillating form after previously eliminating Spanish powerhouse, Real Madrid in the previous round of the competition.

The shock defeat handed out to Juventus means the Serie A side will not be winning the Champions League this season despite the massive financial investment in bringing Cristiano Ronaldo over to their side.

Ronaldo put Juve in front on Tuesday in the 28th minute of the encounter but Donny van de Beek levelled six minutes later.

Ajax’s 19-year-old captain Matthijs de Ligt headed the winner from the corner in the 67th minute of the quarter-final second leg to seal the game in favour of the Dutch side.

With this win, Ajax will now face either Manchester City or Tottenham Hotspur in the semi-final stage of the competition.
