Mechanic Sentenced To 21 Years Imprisonment For Raping 9 Year-Old Girl

A mechanic identified as Abdulrahim Mustapha has been sentenced to 21 years in prison by an Upper Area Court III, sitting in Kasuwan Nama in Jos for raping a 9-year-old girl.

The judge who presided over the case, Yahaya Mohammed stated that the 21-year-old was sentenced to serve as a deterrence to others who would want to indulge in such act.

The accused was sentenced without an option to pay fine.

The Prosecution Counsel, Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the case was reported on April 5 at Laranto Police Station by one Yusuf Dada of Rikkos village Jos.

Gokwat revealed that the Mechanic tricked the victim to buy pure water for him and dragged her into an uncompleted building and raped her.

“This same accused raped a 13-year-old girl a day earlier while she was sleeping in her room,” said Gokwat.

The accused while before the court pleaded guilty to the charge and begged the court for leniency.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 257 of the Penal Code.
