1. What Buhari said at annual investment meeting in Dubai

Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari has addressed the Annual Investment Meeting (AIM) 2019, in Dubai, United Arab Emirate (UAE).

Naija News reports that the President spoke on the theme of the meeting: “Mapping the Future of Foreign Direct Investment: Enriching World Economies through Digital Globalization.”

2. Fire guts Imo Airport

An inferno on Monday broke out at the arrival wing of the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport in Owerri, Imo state.

The inferno was said to have started at 2:15 pm on Monday, April 8.

3. Onnoghen resignation: Why PDP, Saraki should cover their faces in shame – BMO

The Buhari Media Organisation (BMO) has mocked the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for its support for former chief justice of Nigeria, Walter Samuel Onnoghen.

BMO, in a statement signed by its coordinator, Niyi Akinsiju and secretary, Cassidy Madueke, said the opposition party and its leaders should hide their face in shame for supporting corruption as shown in their activities during the court trial of the former CJN.

4. Senate Presidency: What Ndume said after meeting Osinbajo

Former Senate Leader Ali Ndume (APC-Borno South) has dismissed reports that he is planning to drop his ambition to become the Senate President of the 9th National Assembly.

Naija News had reported that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Monday met behind closed doors with Senator Ndume.

5. Brexit: Merkel set to host May on Tuesday

German Chancellor Angela Merkel will on Tuesday host UK Prime Minister Theresa May for talks.

This will be held on the eve of a crucial EU summit when the British premier is hoping to convince the bloc to grant her a new Brexit extension to June 30.

6. Supreme Court delivers judgement on Rivers APC primaries

The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed the suit filed by Senator Magnus Abe on the primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State.

Delivering judgement, the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Ibrahim Tanko Mohammed, dismissed the application on the ground that it lacks merit.

7. Bloomberg slams President Buhari, describes him as ‘Baba Go Slow’

American news agency, Bloomberg, has criticized President Muhammadu Buhari’s record as Nigeria’s leader over the last four years.

In the assessment of the New York-based international news agency, it described the President’s achievement since been elected into office as discouraging and further expressed pessimism about the ability of the President to perform well in his second term.

8. Ex Super Eagles coach, Christian Chukwu is sick, urgently needs $50,000 for treatment

Former Super Eagles player, captain, and coach, Christian Chukwu, is currently battling an undisclosed ailment and is in urgent need of financial assistance.

The former Eagles boss is said to need the sum of about $50,000 which will cover expenses to the United States of America to undergo surgery and further medical treatment.

9. FG signs technical assistance agreement grant with Islamic development bank

The federal government of Nigeria has signed a $523,823 (N185,957,165 million) technical assistance agreement grant with the Islamic Development Bank (ISDB) Group in Marrakesh, Morocco.

The Minister of Finance, Mrs Zainab Ahmed, disclosed this in a statement by her Special Adviser on Media and Communications, Mr Paul Abechi.

10. Senate Presidency: APC leaders pressure Danjuma Goje to accept Lawan

Some former governors are mounting pressure on their former colleague, Senator Danjuma Goje, to accept President Muhammadu Buhari’s choice of Ahmad Lawan for Senate president.

The President is believed to have met Goje on the matter.
