Man Arraigned For Duping Victim Of N2.4m For Spiritual Cleansing

51-year old Temitope Adeoye has been arraigned before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly obtaining N2.4 million under the guise of conducting spiritual cleansing on a man.

Naija News reports that Adeoye appeared before the court on a five-count charge bordering on stealing, obtaining under false pretence, conspiracy.

The prosecutor, Inspector Kehinde Omisakin said that the defendant had obtained the sum from one Yusuf Akanbi under the pretence of performing spiritual concussion for his victim to attract good luck and favour.

Omisakin said that the defendant had also presented counterfeit 40,700 dollars to Akanbi as genuine so as to entice him. She also said that the defendant had also threatened to deal with Akanbi if he would ask for a refund of the defrauded money.

Omisakin said the offence contravened Sections 56, 314, 365 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Meanwhile, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges levied against him.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Komolafe, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1 million and with the provision of two sureties who she maintained must be gainfully employed, each in like sum. She, however, fixed the mentioning of the case for May 9.
