Eight persons have been confirmed dead while several others have been left injured after some hoodlums suspected to be cultists, invaded two communities in Obio-Akpor local government area in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Naija News reports that the communities under the attack were; Rumuodohia and Rumuolumeni in Rivers state.

According to reports, the cultists were said to have operated between 3 am and 5am on Sunday, April 7, shooting sporadically while the residents of the communities justle for the safety of their lives and that of their loved ones.

An eyewitness who requested anonymity revealed that the police in the area arrived the communities at the time the robbers had left the scene.

“It happened in the early hours of today (Sunday), between 3 am and 5 am. Policemen have actually been deployed there now. The police came after the cultists finished their operation,” the source, who preferred not to be mentioned, the source said.
