Army Gives Update On Woman Hit By Its Vehicle

The Nigerian Army has confirmed that its Hilux vehicle, accidentally hit a woman at the Ogbor Hill Water Side Bridge, on Friday, 6th April 2019.

It, however, denied reckless treatment of the woman or situation, disclosing that the woman in question was immediately rushed to the hospital and her medical bills paid by the Army.

The Army made the clarification in a statement made available to Naija News on Monday, 8th April by Major O.J Badamosi, Assistant Director Army Public Relations 14 Brigade in response to rumours from certain quarters that the matter was not well handled.

The Army statement reads:

“The attention of the Headquarters 14 Brigade, Nigerian Army Ohafia is drawn to a publication claiming reckless treatment of a woman accidentally hit by a Nigerian Army hilux vehicle at the Ogbor Hill Water Side Bridge, close to Eyimba hotel, along Aba/Ikot Ekpene highway on Friday the 6th of April 2019.”

“It should be noted that the accident was immediately formally reported to the appropriate Army authority in whose area of responsibility the accident happened.”

“The victim was rushed to Rosevern Hospital, Owerri Road, Aba for medical treatment by the Army and the medical expense was paid accordingly. Presently the victim is in a stable condition.”

“The family of the victim have been contacted and they are overseeing the patient in the hospital.”
