1. Walter Onnoghen Resigns As CJN With Immediate Effect?

The suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen has resigned his position as CJN with immediate effect. Onnoghen reportedly submitted his letter of resignation to President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday evening, few hours after the National Judicial Council (NJC) recommended that he be compulsorily retired.

2. Real Reason Suspended CJN Resigned – Onnoghen’s Lawyer

The lawyer to the suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen, Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN) has confirmed his client resignation. Speaking to The Nation on Friday, he disclosed that his client took the decision in the interest of the judiciary.

3. Presidency Quiet Over Suspended CJN Walter Onnoghen’s Resignation

The presidency has yet to confirm the receipt of a letter of resignation by the suspended Chief Justice of the Federation, Justice Walter Onnoghen. The News Agency of Nigeria reliably gathered that Onnoghen’s resignation letter was submitted to the Chief of Staff to the President, Malam Abba Kyari, by some Justices of the apex court.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday said the resignation of the suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Onoghen has vindicated the action of President Muhammadu Buhari. Onnoghen’s resignation is coming after the National Judicial Council reportedly recommended to Buhari to retire him with full benefits.

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu has vowed to reveal members of the most corrupt judiciary on earth. This is as the group has also lashed out at the Nigerian judiciary, accusing it of acting scripts based on instructions from the Aso Rock cabal.

6. Nigeria’s Public Debt Hits N24.387tn

The Debt Management Office (DMO) has revealed that Nigeria’s aggregate public debt grew by 12.25 per cent (N2.66 trillion) year-on-year as at December 31, 2018, to currently stand at N24.387 trillion ($79.437 billion). Before the new figure released by the DMO, the previous figure was N21.7 trillion over the same period in 2017.

A storm of reactions by Nigerians has greeted photos showing Abba Kyari and other officers of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) in bushes along Abuja-Kaduna expressway. Nigeria’s Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr Ibe Kachikwu, has urged operators in the oil and gas sector to step up their game on investment so as to take over major operations from international oil companies (IOCs). He made this assertion during the opening ceremony of the 2019 Nigeria Oil and Gas Opportunities Fair (NOGOF) in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, yesterday.
