Why PDP Lost Bayelsa, Kogi Elections - Governor Dickson

Bayelsa state governor, Seriake Dickson has congratulated the Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, on his re-election victory.

Dickson while reacting in his congratulatory message to his Rivers state counterpart, described his victory as well-deserved.

Naija News reports that Dickson expressed delight in a congratulatory message signed by his Special Adviser on Public Affairs, Daniel Alabrah, on Thursday, April 3  in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa state capital.

Dickson said it was gratifying that the will of Rivers people eventually prevailed over what he termed “federal might.”

He noted that the Rivers governorship election again proved democracy can only thrive when the wishes of the people are respected.

The governor also condemned the election violence recorded in the state during the cause of the election and condemned the roles of party agents in the violence.

In his words, Dickson said; “Might has not always been right. And the Rivers election was yet another proof that people power will always overcome might even when it is deployed by the federal government as the peoples of Bayelsa and Rivers have proved this to be so.

“I, therefore, commend the Rivers people for resisting the attempts to subvert their will. In the same vein, I condemn the roles played by security agencies of the federal government that yielded themselves to the whims of desperate politicians in the state. The election cannot be a do-or-die affair.

“This should be a lesson for politicians in our region who engage in needless violence and militarisation of the voting process because of their access to the federal government in Abuja.”
