Real Reason Suspended CJN Resigned – Onnoghen’s Lawyer

The lawyer to the suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen, Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN) has confirmed his client resignation.

Speaking to The Nation on Friday, he disclosed that his client took the decision in the interest of the judiciary.

Awomolo said: “I have just spoken with him. He confirmed to me that he resigned yesterday.

“He said he resigned in the interest of the Judiciary.”

Naija News recalls that Walter Onnoghen resigned his position as CJN with immediate effect.

Onnoghen reportedly submitted his letter of resignation to President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday evening, few hours after the National Judicial Council (NJC) recommended that he be compulsorily retired.
