Rivers Election: What Okowa Said About Wike’s Victory

The governor of Delta state, Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, says Governor Nyesom Wike’s victory at the polls is “well deserved”.

Naija News recalls that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), declared Wike winner of the governorship election.

The Returning Officer for the election, Teddy Adias, made the declaration at INEC head office in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital on Wednesday evening.

Wike polled 886,264 votes ahead of Biokpomabo Awara, candidate of the African Alliance Congress (AAC) and his closest rival, who garnered 173,859 votes.

Reacting to Wike’s victory in a tweet on Wednesday, Okowa said “from the margin of victory, it is safe to say power indeed belongs to the people and they decide whom to freely give it to.”

His words: “On behalf of the @DSGovernment and people of Delta State, I congratulate my dear brother and colleague, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike (@GovWike) on his well deserved victory in the just concluded Rivers State Governorship Election.

“I also congratulate our great party the PDP (@OfficialPDPNig) in Rivers State and all our teeming supporters nationwide for this well deserved victory. From the margin of victory, it is safe to say power indeed belongs to the people and they decide whom to freely give it to.”
