How El-Rufai Saved Motorists From Kidnappers

The Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai on Wednesday saved some motorists from the claws of kidnappers along the Kaduna-Abuja highway.

Naija News reports that the motorists were saved when the state Governor was plying the route on his way to Abuja for an emergency meeting.

On getting to the point where the motorists were being harassed by their kidnappers, the convoy of the state governor discovered a roadblock, with cars parked by the roadside.

The Governor who inquired to know what the problem is, was briefed that some kidnappers suspected to be armed had blocked the road and left travellers stranded.

Upon El-Rufai’s arrival to the scene at about 3:45pm, the kidnappers evacuated the scene after sighting the convoy of the governor.

El-Rufai then ordered the removal of the roadblock and further ordered that those who sustained varying degrees of injuries in the incident be taken to the hospital for swift medical attention.

It was unclear whether any of the motorists were abducted during the process, however, the governor’s spokesman, Samuel Aruwan confirmed that the incident occurred around the Akilubu village around 3:40pm.

In his confirmation, Aruwan said in his words; “Security operatives in the governor’s convoy advanced and cleared the road of the criminals who fled into the forest.

‘After clearing the road, Governor El-Rufai directed that travellers who had been wounded by the criminals be rushed to the nearest hospital.

“The Governor also directed security agencies to intensify patrols and permanently clear the road of the bandits.”
