The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said Senator Ali Ndume (APC-Borno South) is free to contest against the party’s preferred candidate, Senator Ahmed Lawan, for Senate Presidency.

National Publicity Secretary of the party, Malam Lanre Issa-Onilu, said this in a chat with Thisday.

The ninth National Assembly will elect its new leaders in June.

Isa-Onilu said: “It is not yet a date for the National Assembly to choose its new leaders and the party is at peace. We are doing what needs to be done to get our members to abide by the decisions of the party.

“We have confidence that at the end of the day, all our members will go as a united entity on the floor of the National Assembly to do as we all collectively agreed.”

Naija News recalls that Ali Ndume has highlighted things he would do if elected the next Senate President.

The former Majority Leader vowed to make the office less attractive by reducing the unnecessary privileges attached to it.

In his nine-point agenda, Ndume also promised to uphold the independence of the legislative arm of government.
