1. EFCC to probe Amosun, Okorocha, Yari

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has set up teams to probe some governors accused of perpetrating acts of corruption ahead of May 29, 2019, handover date to newly-elected states governors.

At least 12 states will have new governors on May 29 after the tenure of the current ones would have ended.

2. PDP files fresh petition over March 9 governorship polls in Katsina

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Katsina State, Yakubu Lado has filed a petition before the election petitions tribunal.

Naija News reports that the petition is aimed at challenging the conduct of the March 9 governorship election.

3. Onnoghen: crisis brewing as CJN Tanko’s tenure set to expire

Nigeria may be plunged into a constitutional crisis in about three weeks as the tenure of the acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Muhammad Tanko, comes to an end.

Muhammad was inaugurated by President Muhammadu Buhari on January 25, 2019 following an order by the Code of Conduct Tribunal that the substantive CJN, Justice Walter Onnoghen, be suspended and the next in line of seniority, be sworn in.

4. Rivers: Oshiomhole publicly dissociates self from AAC

Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, Adams Oshiomhole has dissociated himself from the African Action Congress (AAC) in the participation of the Rivers state governorship election.

Naija News reports that Oshiomhole separated himself from the claims that the party is working in alliance with AAC to win River state election.

5. 9th National Assembly: PDP plotting to snatch 13 APC Senators-elect

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has launched an audacious move to win to its side 13 All Progressives Congress (APC) Senators-elect as part of a grand design to hijack the leadership of the 9th Senate.

But the alleged plot has leaked to the APC which has launched a counter move of its own to avoid a repeat of the 2015 infiltration of its ranks in the National Assembly by the PDP, highly placed party sources said last night.

6. Finally, Gbajabiamila declares for Speaker of 9th National Assembly

The Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila (APC-Lagos), on Sunday officially declared for the office of the Speaker of the 9th Assembly.

Speaking on Sunday in the company of 170 members-elect, Gbajabiamila said he was in the race to unite the nation and bring good governance closer to the people.

7. Zamfara APC crisis: Why Oshiomhole is a liar – Marafa

Senator Kabiru Marafa (APC-Zamfara Central) has asked the National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, to always speak the truth as regards the party’s 2018 October’s botched primaries in the state.

The lawmaker was reacting to Oshiomhole‘s endorsement of the Zamfara APC faction led by Governor Abdulaziz Yari when he featured on a TV interview programme last Friday.

8. Borno group says Ndume not stepping down for Lawan

A group of concerned stakeholders in Borno state has said that the former Senate Leader, Senator Muhammad Ali Ndume is not backing out of the race to becoming the next Senate President of the Ninth Assembly.

Naija News reports that the concerned group from Ndume’s home State of Borno gave the assurance despite the endorsement of the incumbent Senate Leader, Senator Ahmed Lawan by the leadership of his party; the All Progressives Congress and President Muhammadu Buhari.

9. Why Gbajabiamila should drop ambition – APC spokespersons

The Conference of APC State Publicity Secretaries (CAPS) in the South East has urged Hon Femi Gbajabiamila to drop his ambition for the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Naija News had reported that Gbajabiamila had on Sunday declared his intention to contest for the Speaker of the Ninth National Assembly.

Liverpool regain top spot in the English premier league on Sunday after battling to a 2-1 win over Tottenham.

The win sees them open up a two point gap over Man. City as the race for the premier league title nears conclusion.
