1. Buhari Breaks Silence On Appointments For Next Level

President Muhammadu Buhari has promised that every part of the country will be represented in the allocation of political offices in his second term. Naija News reports that the President made the vow on Friday, March 29, when he received the leadership of the Christain Association of Nigeria (CAN).

2. Buhari Reveals Major Challenge Nigeria Is Facing

Nigeria‘s President, Muhammadu Buhari, says the country has continued to face the challenge of meeting domestic food requirements and providing raw materials for the manufacturing sector and export. Naija News reports that President Buhari made the statement on Saturday, March 30, at the opening of the 40th Kaduna international trade fair, organised by the Kaduna chambers of commerce, industry, mines and agriculture (KADCCIMA).

3. Oshiomhole Speaks On Choosing Next Senate President

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, has said he can not choose who becomes the Senate President of the 9th National Assembly. Speaking on Channels TV’s Hard Copy on Friday, Oshiomhole said all he had done about the issue was to engage members of the National Assembly and members of the executive.

4. Nigeria In Talks With Ghana Over Deportation Of Ghanaian Nationals

Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has begun reconciliatory talks with its Ghanaian counterpart over the recent deportation of four Ghanaian nationals. Naija News reports that NIS public relations officer, Sunday James, the comptroller-general, Muhammad Babandede, played host to Kwame Takyi, his counterpart from the Ghana Immigration Service, accompanied by the Ghana high commissioner to Nigeria, Rashid Bawa.

5. DSS ‘Re-Arrests’ Journalist Jones Abiri

Bayelsa state based journalist and publisher of Weekly Source Newspaper, Jones Abiri, has reportedly been arrested again by the Department of State Services (DSS). Naija News learned that Abiri was reportedly picked up at Ayabowei Plaza in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa state capital, on Saturday, March 30 while he was having a discussion with his colleagues.

6. Finally, APC Zones Key Senate Positions For 9th National Assembly

There were indications last night that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has tentatively agreed on a power-sharing formula for five more principal offices in the 9th Senate. The party will soon name its favourites for the coveted offices after more consultations with the presidency and national leaders in order to ensure early rapprochement with its Senators-elect before the inauguration of the National Assembly in June.

7. Support Lawan, Gbajabiamila Or Leave, Tinubu Warns APC Lawmakers

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria’s ruling party, Bola Tinubu, has warned lawmakers elected on the platform of the party to support Ahmad Lawan and Femi Gbajabiamila for Senate president and speaker of the House of Representatives. Addressing journalists in Lagos state, Nigeria’s commercial city, on Friday, March 29, Tinubu said the party’s choice must be respected and whoever is against such should leave.

8. Why Sureties Can’t Produce IPOB Leader, Nnamdi Kanu’s Lawyer Reveals

Aloy Ejimakor, counsel to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has denied that sureties to the IPOB leader have applied to the Federal High Court Abuja to withdraw their suretyship. In a statement to newsmen, he blamed the inability of the sureties to produce Kanu on the invasion of his (Kanu’s) house by military personnel.

9. Scores Feared Dead As Gunmen Halt Fishing Festival In Kogi

Several lives have been endangered while five persons have been confirmed to have sustained various degrees of injuries after some unknown gunmen invaded and interrupted the peaceful process of the fishing festival in Kogi state. Naija News reports that the gunmen attacked the venue of the festival in just one hour after the commencement of the annual Dankwo fishing festival at the Kabawa Waterfront in Lokoja, the Kogi state capital.

10. Palace Send Huddersfield Packing From Premier League

Crystal Palace’s victory over Huddersfield has ended the team’s two-year stay in the English Premier League (EPL). Jan Siewert’s side needed to win at Crystal Palace for their destiny to remain in their own hands, but their 2-0 defeat to Roy Hodgson’s side sealed their fate before the start of April.
