PDP Will Back Lawan’s Senate Presidency – Abdullahi

Senator Sabi Abdullahi, Chairman, Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, has stated that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will support Senator Ahmad Lawan as Senate President.

Abdullahi, who is also the spokesperson for the group canvassing support for Ahmad Lawan, also assured Nigerians that the decision of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to pick Lawan as its candidate for the office of the Senate President will not lead to crisis.

According to him, the choice of Lawan was not unilaterally done by an individual but a collective decision of the party.

The lawmaker said leaders of the APC, after due consultations, asked the APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, to announce Lawan as the party’s choice.

This, according to him, was contrary to claims by Senator Ali Ndume that Oshiomhole’s announcement did not have the backing of President Muhammadu Buhari and that of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
