INEC Presents Certificates Of Return In Imo State

Emeka Ihedioha has on Wednesday, been presented his certificate of return as the Imo State Governor-elect by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The state deputy governor-elect, Gerald Irona and 26 out of the 27 House of Assembly members-elect were also presented their certificates of return.

Naija News recalls Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party, defeated other contestants in the March 9 governorship election to emerge Governor-elect for Imo State.

The presentation of certificates of return was done at the INEC office in Owerri, the state capital and witnessed large turnout of party faithful and supporters.

Okey Ibeanu, the INEC’s supervisory commissioner, representing Imo and Abia States, issued the certificates of return to the elected politicians.

The certificate of return for the member-elect for Ideato North state constituency, Authur Egwim, was omitted and is now expected to get his own certificate next week.

The State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof Francis Ezeonu was, however, quick to apologize to Egwim over the omission.

The REC said, “We want to sincerely apologize to Mr Authur Egwim, member-elect for Ideato North state constituency. It was an omission. But I want to assure you that you will receive your Certificate of Return next week. There is no cause for alarm.”
