Manchester United is set to announce the appointment of caretaker coach, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, as the club’s new permanent manager before the weekend.

Daily Mail reports that Man United’s hierarchy have reportedly already stopped their search for a new permanent manager and now regards Solskjaer as their one and only candidate to take the job.

Solskjaer has won 10 out of the 13 Premier League games since his appointment as interim manager and reached the Champions League quarter-finals, where they will tackle Barcelona in April.

The 46-year-old replaced the former manager, Jose Mourinho last December.

The Norwegian had said in January that he does not want to leave the Old Trafford club once his contract expires at the end of the season.

Manchester United is currently fifth on the Premier League table this season with 58 points from 30 games.
