Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi has called on the Peoples Democratic Party and the governor-elect, Seyi Makinde to focus on development issues in the state rather tarnish his image and rubbish his eight-years in government.
The Oyo state governor stated this in a statement through his Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy, Mr Bolaji Tunji.
Ajimobi stated that he expects the elected party to start revealing their plans for the state and how to develop the state and build on the foundation laid by his administration instead of attacking his administration.
The Governor said he surprised by the media attack by the opposition parties who are practicing politics of bitterness that the state government under his tenure, has since left behind.
He called on online news platform to verify the information made available to them by their unscrupulous sources.
Ajimobi stated that the opposition parties have recruited some online medium to carry out some of their activities.
Ajimobi said, “It is disheartening that more than two weeks after the election, the opposition parties, especially the PDP have carried on as if they are still campaigning.”
“Now that elections have been won and lost, there should be an end to acrimonious and incendiary comments. Political discussion has moved from the pre-2011 era. Our focus is on politics of issues and development.”
“That is what we expect from them, not personal attacks and falsehood-laced statements indicating their unpreparedness for governance.”
“I’m not unaware that during campaigns some politicians adopted the campaign of calumny as strategy believing it would give them undue advantage, but such does not last. What the electorate expects is to be educated on their blueprint for the development of the state.”
