Governor Simon Lalong, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria’s ruling party, has been reelected governor of Plateau state. Naija News reports that the ruling party polled 583,255 votes while PDP had 538,326 votes in Plateau in the March 9 election.

Lives have been confirmed to have been lost while several others have been left with various degrees of injuries during the Kano rerun election. Naija News reports that the election turned bloody after some suspected political thugs invaded some polling units in the state.

The collation officer for Gboko local government area of Benue state, north-central Nigeria, Comfort Dooshima, has been shot by unknown gunmen. The returning officer for the exercise, Professor Rasheed Ojikutu, declared Fatai winner on Saturday.
