Kano Rerun: PDP Rejects Election Result

 

he former governorship candidate on the platform of People Democratic Party (PDP),in Kano state in the 2019 election , Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, a loyalist of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has emerged as the governorship candidate of the party for the oncoming 2023 General Elections. It will be recalled that Alhaji Yusuf,was a former governorship candidate on the platform of People Democratic Party (PDP),in Kano state in the 2019 election , The ,primaries which took place at the premises of the Sani Abacha Youth Centre in Kano was conducted under the party committee chaired by Sen Musa Bako Aujara from the national body of the party. Speaking with Journalists on Monday, at the venue of the event ,Senator Aujara disclosed that Abba Kabir Yusuf a.k.a Abba Gidagida is the only one contesting for the governorship candidacy under the NNPP in Kano and according to the elections guidelines of the party, he is going to be affirmed by the delegates on a yes or no basis. According to him there are 1,452 delegates, with three from each of the 484 wards that will affirm his candidacy. He said that"Going by the party guidelines, you can affirm a candidate through the use of ballot and there is only one contestant in this exercise in person of Abba Yusuf. Meanwhile there are a total 1,452 delegates to vote in this exercise as there are three delegates from each of the 484 wards in Kano" he stated. According to him, "I am chairing the committee organizing this exercise along with four other members that include Dr Sani Ado, Bashir Yusuf, Abubakar Sulaiman and one other member.

The Kano State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Sunday rejected the results of the supplementary election held in the state on Saturday.

Naija News had reported that Governor Umar Ganduje of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was declared the winner of the controversial Kano State governorship election.

Ganduje won with a margin of less than 9,000 votes after the collation of figures for the supplementary elections held on March 23, 2019.

Speaking to newsmen after the collation, acting chairman of the party Rabi’u Sulaiman Bichi said “the results were doctored as there was no election on Saturday.

“We shall not endorse the results.”

Also speaking, member representing Dala federal constituency Honourable Ali Madakin Gini observed that the affected Gama Ward in Nasarawa local government witnessed violence.
