Appeal Court Affirm Dumo Lulu-Briggs As The Governorship Candidate Of Accord Party

Dumo Lulu-Briggs as been affirmed as the governorship candidate of the Accord Party in the 2019 general elections,the ruling was delivered by the Court of Appeal sitting in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

Justice A. Lamido while delivering his ruling on Friday at the court of appeal stated that the ruling by the court was in respect of an application brought before it by Wilcox Abereton SAN, the lead counsel to Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs.

Justice Lamido granted the application for stay of execution and further granted an injunction restraining Precious Baridoo from parading himself as the Rivers state Accord governorship candidate.

“By this ruling, Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs remains the INEC recognized Rivers State governorship candidate of Accord in Rivers State and the person whose name was legally submitted to INEC by the National Working Committee of Accord,” he said.

The Rivers State chapter of the Accord Party had been in crisis over who is the genuine candidate of the party.

THe former chairman of the party in the state, Precious Barido had approach the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt to challenge the candidature of Dumo Lulu-Briggs.

Fews days to the governorship election in Rivers State, the Federal High Court had ruled in favour of Barido which saw Dumo Lulu-Briggs file an appeal at the court of Appeal sitting in Yenagoa.
