INEC Speaks On Preparations For Kano Guber Rerun

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has given assurances on its readiness to conduct the Kano State governorship re-run election on Saturday.

Speaking ahead of the rerun polls, the Kano State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) Riskuwa Arab-Shehu, said Nigerians should expect a credible poll.

Arab-Shehu said this on Thursday during a press conference in Kano ahead of Saturday’s election.

“In 23 LGAs, the election was cancelled due to over voting and violence which disrupted the election process in those areas.”

“In these affected areas, we have a total number of 55,151 registered voters in 92 polling units across the affected Local Government Areas.

“Earlier, we have 29 affected Local Government Areas, but we later realised that one of it, Bunkure where card reader was not used in one of the polling units, therefore it was declared as Invalid instead of cancelled” he added.

Naija News recalls before the March 9 governorship election in the state was declared inconclusive by the electoral umpire, PDP’s  Abba Kabir was leading incumbent governor and APC candidate, Abdullahi Ganduje.

The INEC official further revealed that all sensitive and non-sensitive materials for the re-run are ready, and distribution would start on Friday (today).
