2023 Governorship: Full List Of States Won By APC, PDP, LP, NNPP After Supplementary Elections

The rerun of the Niger State House of Assembly elections in Agaie constituency has been stopped by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Prof. Sam Egwu, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, during a press statement on Thursday declared the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Yahaya Abdullahi as the winner of the election.

The electoral body stated that it’s decision was in respect to the earlier declaration of the candidate of PDP by the returning officer, Prof. Musa Kolo.

The REC, in a statement he personally signed, said, “the rerun in two units has been dropped after due consultations with stakeholders.”

The chairman of APC, Mohammed Jibril while reacting to the decision of the commission stated that the electoral body’s decision to declare Yahaya as the winner of the election is unacceptable.

He stated that the commission mistakenly declared the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party as the winner of the inconclusive election.

“Why should the commission take such critical decision when the votes difference in the results under contention were just 106, while the two units the rerun was billed to take place boast of 1,437 votes.” Imam queried in a chat with reporters.”
