Federal Government Post-Disaster Team To Hold Press Briefing On Collapsed Building

While relevant operatives are on the rescue mission of lives from the collapse of the school building on Lagos Island, a post-disaster assessment team of the Federal Government is set to take over.

A press briefing is also expected to take place following the arrival of the federal government’s team

The post-disaster team will ensure the provision of relief assistance to the victims. After that, the team will head to the hospital to meet victims presently receiving medical attention.

Scores of pupils have been rescued and are currently receiving treatment at the Lagos island general hospital after a three three-storying collapsed on Massey street in the Ita Faaji area of Lagos, Naija News reports.

The three-story building houses a school at the top floor while other floors are residential and occupied by shop owners.

Eyewitness account reveals that the house was weak and that the occupants had been asked to vacate the building.

The general manager of Lagos state emergency management agency also told newsmen that it is handling the situation.

Naija News reports that the state governor Akinwunmi Ambode who visited the site yesterday, assured concerned citizens that government will order a full-scale investigation into the tragedy.
