Finally, Senate Leadership Swears In Isaac Alfa As Senator Representing Kogi East

The Clerk to the Senate on Wednesday sworn Senator Issac Mohammed Alfa as the representative of the Kogi East Senatorial District.

Alfa was sworn in following the judgement of the Supreme Court affirming Issac Mohammed Alfa as the authentic Senatorial candidate to represent Kogi East Senatorial District.

The media Aide to the embattled lawmaker, Yusuf Abubakar stated that effort to swear in Alfa was resolved with the leadership of Senate on Tuesday.

“There was a discussion on Tuesday by the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki with Atai Aidoko Ali that Isaac Alfa would be sworn in as Senator representing Kogi East. “

“The matter has been resolved and Alfa will be sworn in tomorrow”, he said.

Alfa filed a legal suit against Senator Atai Aidoko Ali in the last four years, claiming that he won the 2014 PDP primaries, and got a judgement in his favour at the Federal High Court up to the Supreme Court after Aidoko appealed the judgement twice.

After the judgement of the court, Alfa accused the Senate leadership of not obeying the Supreme Court order when the Senate President, Bukola Saraki stated that the Supreme Court did not order specific performance in line with the judgement of the court.

The statement by Saraki caused Alfa to seek a judgement from the Supreme Court over his swearing in as a Senator which was carried out on Wednesday.
