While results from the Saturday’s election have been collated in some polling units in the state, the Police in Kano state, northwest Nigeria, have cautioned politicians and their supporters against celebrating unofficial results of the 2019 governorship and state house of assembly elections.

Naija News reports that the Police made this known while reacting to some supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship Candidate, Abba Yusuf, who took to major streets in Kano metropolis on Saturday evening to celebrate.

The Police cautioned the supporters to stop celebrating unofficial results especially as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is yet to declare the winner of the poll.

The spokesman for the police in the state, DSP Abdullahi Haruna, gave the warning in a statement issued to newsmen on Sunday.

Haruna who said the warning was aimed at maintaining peace and harmony in the northwest state, said in his words; “The command is categorically putting it clear to all and sundry that the Independent National Election Commission (INEC) should be allowed to finish collating the results and declare authentic winners before any celebrations.”
