Live Updates: Plateau State 2019 Governorship Election

As Nigerians head to the polls today, Saturday 9th March 2019 to elect governors who will run the affairs of their states for the next four years.

Plateau  State which is also known and celebrated as “The Home of Peace and Tourism” is one of the 29 states where governorship elections will hold today, Naija News understands.

According to figures obtained from the Independent National Electoral Commission, 24 candidates will be contesting the number one seat in plateaus state.

The state is currently led by Simon Lalong of the All Progressives Congress who is determined to retain his seat through re-election.

Useni will face incumbent governor Simon Bako Lalong, 20 years his junior. Lalong belongs to the All Progressives Congress, APC. He also bagged the second term ticket of his party, unopposed. Lalong, who is from Shendam LGA was born on May 5, 1963.

The other contestants for the topmost seat in plateau states are Jon Temlong of the Action Democratic Congress, ADC, Haruna Dabin of the Providence People Congress, PPC, Godfrey Miri of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, among others.
