1. Court threatens Senate President Bukola Saraki with arrest

A Federal High Court in Abuja, has threatened to arrest Senate President Bukola Saraki and Clerk of the National Assembly, Mohammed Sani-Omolori if they fail to obey its order of June 13, 2018.

The court had ordered Saraki and Sani-Omolori to swear-in Air vice Marshal Isaac Mohammed Alfa (rtd) as the Senator representing Kogi east, just as it ordered Senator Attai Aidoko (PDP, Kogi east) to vacate the seat because he was not validly elected.

2. IPOB’s Nnamdi Kanu takes ‘Biafra struggle’ to European Parliament

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has taken the ‘struggle’ for the Republic of Biafra to the European Parliament in Brussels, Belgium.

Naija News understands that the IPOB leader and his deputy, Uche Mefor, met with members of the European Parliament on Thursday, March 7.

3. Appeal Court overturns order stopping Taraba APC candidate from contesting governorship elections

A Court of Appeal sitting in Jalingo, Taraba State capital, on Thursday set aside a Federal High Court order, which disqualified the Taraba All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate from contesting in Saturday’s governorship polls.

Naija News recalls a Federal High Court in Jalingo, had on Wednesday, disqualified Sani Danladi from contesting the polls on account of discrepancy in age declaration.

4. Governorship elections: See category of candidates that will not get certificate of return from INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Nigeria’s electoral umpire, has revealed that it will not issue certificates of return to any candidate declared winner of an election under duress.

Naija News reports that the development was made known by INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu during a meeting with the inter-agency consultative committee on election security which held in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital on Thursday.

5. Buhari arrives Daura ahead of governorship elections

President Muhammadu Buhari has arrived his home town of Daura, on Thursday ahead of Saturday Governorship and State Assembly elections.

It was reported that Buhari landed at the Daura Helipad in a Presidential Chopper marked NAF-541 at 6:50 p.m. along with his aides and close family members.

6. Squandered wealth: PDP has case to answer – President Buhari

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) still owes Nigerians explanation on how it expended the humongous resources that accrued to the country from oil sales between 1999 and 2014, President Muhammadu Buhari has said.

The President said this on Thursday when he received the leadership of organized labour which came to felicitate with him on his electoral victory at State House, Abuja.

7. Governorship Elections: INEC reveals when all polling units will open

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Nigeria’s electoral umpire, says it will put necessary measures in place to ensure voting starts at the scheduled time of 8 am during the governorship elections.

8. Sowore’s party, AAC rejects Amaechi’s Rivers governorship endorsement

The African Action Congress (AAC) has clarified that it has not entered into any form of alliance or agreement with the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the Rivers governorship election.

The party added that it remains committed to its promise to Nigerians to provide a different style of government.

9. Atiku addresses Nigerians, tells them what to do during Saturday’s governorship election

Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, has urged Nigerians to come out and vote during Saturday’s governorship election without any fear of intimidation.

Atiku said this in a social media broadcast to Nigerians on Thursday where he also called on Nigerians to vote and defend their votes on Saturday.

10. Wike alleges Amaechi, Army plotting to arrest PDP members

Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike has accused the Minister of Transportation Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and the Nigeria Army of masterminding the mass arrest of innocent Nigerians and prominent PDP members in Rivers State.

Naija News reports that the Rivers state governor alleged that the GOC of 6 Division, Nigeria Army and Amaechi masterminded the arrests so as to precipitate a crisis and cause the INEC to postpone the elections in the state.
