Buhari Shelves Planned Town Hall Meeting In Akwa-Ibom, To Be Represented By Osinbajo
Buhari Changes Mind On Visit
President Muhammadu Buhari has shelved earlier plans to personally attend a town hall meeting in Akwa-Ibom State ahead of the March 9 governorship elections.
The President will now be represented by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Naija News understands.
The latest development was confirmed by Senator Ita Enang on Monday who cited urgent state matters as been responsible for the President’s inability to personally attend the event.
As earlier reported by this online platform, President Buhari was expected to visit Akwa Ibom, Imo and some other states to campaign for the governorship candidates of the party before the March 9th governorship election.
However, Enang in a statement on Monday said:
“May I please confirm that His Excellency Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, GCON will visit Akwa Ibom State for the scheduled Town Hall meeting today, March 4, 2019.”
“His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, has so delegated due to unforseen state duties suddenly arising.”
“Time is 2pm, all other programmes remain the same.”
