A group, Free Lagos Movement has unveiled the plans of the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu to position his own biological son to emerge as the next governor of Lagos state.

Naija News reports that the group made the accusation during a World Press Conference on Thursday, February 28 at the Airport Hotel in Ikeja.

The group alleged that the national leader of the party has already concluded plans for his son to become the next Governor of Lagos State who would take over from the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Babajide Sanwo-Olu come 2023 election.

In an address delivered at the conference by Comrade Mark Adebayo, the group also accused the national leader of placing his relatives in strategic positions in the state. The group alleged that the APC leader has turned Lagos to his “personal cottage.”

Comrade Mark Adebayo in his speech highlighted the aim of the group as a group concerned in with achieving a Lagos that is free from stunted economic growth occasioned by monumental corruption and social manipulation of the people.

He furthered that the group is aimed at achieving a free Lagos that will embrace in all its ramifications the tenets of good governance in the public sector, transparency, accountability, fairness and ethnic cohesion.

In his words, Mark Adebayo said; “Today, the reality on ground is that the Centre of Excellence, the economic capital of Nigeria and indeed the fifth largest economy in Africa has been held captive and brazenly been manipulated by a group of power cabal (led by a former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu), for their selfish interests rather than the public good.

“It is still baffling to the majority of Nigerians, how Lagos State has ended up becoming a personal cottage industry of one individual, who solely determines the fate and destiny of about twenty million people. For almost twenty years now, Lagos has become his fiefdom, with trails of personal aggrandisement, staggering corruption and virtual enslavement.”

The group went further to list how Tinubu has allegedly continued to entrench himself in the state by placing his people in key positions in the state.

Among other key positions in the state, the group recalls that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu was Governor for eight years but has continued to govern by proxy till date.

Mark Adebayo noted in his statement that the wife to the former governor of Lagos state has been Senator for eight years and still going for the third term now.

The incumbent Commissioner for Women Affair in Lagos State, Lola Akande, a former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, is Tinubu’s sister-in-law.

Hon. Sunkanmi, the current member of Lagos House of Assembly representing Ikeja, is Tinubu’s nephew who according to the group succeeded Lola Akande.

Among other key positions that the group claimed that the family members of Tinubu are occupying, the group also noted that Sade Tinubu-Ojo, the Iyaloja General of Lagos and Nigeria, is Tinubu’s daughter.
