Rivers Court Sacks Governorship Candidate

A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has ordered the removal of Dumo Lulu-Briggs as the governorship candidate of the Accord Party.

While delivering judgment, Justice E.A Obile said Dumo Lulu-Briggs did not participate in the primaries of Accord Party and should not be the beneficiary of the Governorship ticket.

Obile noted that Precious Baridoo who contested the party primary did not in any time relinquished his candidature to anyone.

The court, therefore, ordered that the name of Dumo be removed and replaced with Precious Baridoo.

The trial judge also warned that Lulu-Briggs should stop parading himself as the governorship candidate of the Accord Party.

Speaking with newsmen outside the court, counsel to Dumo Lulu-Briggs and Accord Party, Omoniyi Dauda-Abdulkareem said his client will approach the Court of Appeal to seek justice on the judgment of the Federal High Court.

Also speaking, counsel to the Plaintiff, Wori Wori said his client can now participate in the 9th March Governorship election.

Baridoo had challenged the nomination of Dumo Lulu-Briggs as the Governorship Candidate of Accord Party in the state, arguing that Dumo did not participate in the primaries.
