Armed men of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), have invaded Airport Hotel along Allen Avenue in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial city, where some political activists are holding a rally ahead of the March 9 governorship election in the state.

Naija News learned that the group which is under the Orange Movement converged on Oramiyan Hall in the hotel to strategise on how to stop the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, from having his way in the election.

This online news platform understands that candidate of the APC in the election, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, enjoys Tinubu’s support.

The barricade, Naija News understands is coming at a time some Tinubu’s critics and members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s main opposition, have alleged that a win for Sanwo-Olu translates into a fifth term for Tinubu, who served as governor between 1999 and 2007.

Naija News reports that the allegation is based on the act that Tinubu influenced the emergence of Babatunde Fashola, who governed the state between 2007 and 2015 as well as the emergence of Akinwunmi Ambode, the incumbent governor of Lagos.

This online news platform recalls that the Orange Movement had adopted “O to Ge”, meaning “Enough is Enough”, a crusade which was used to uproot the political structure of Senate President Bukola Saraki.

Naija News learned that the barricade was based on the claim by the police that the group did not seek permission from the appropriate quarters before organising the rally.
