The Nigeria Senate has adjourned seating till the 12th of March to enable its members participate in the forthcoming governorship and house of assembly elections.

The motion was moved by the Senate leader, Ahmed Lawan, claiming that lawmakers need to concentrate on the elections.

“Mr President, distinguished colleagues, as you can see, some of our colleagues are unavailable because they need to participate in the next elections.”

“I want to submit that we adjourn till, after the gubernatorial elections slated for 9th March so that we can reconvene on 12th, I so submit sir.”

The motion was seconded by Senator Philip Tanimu Aduda who stated that it was important for lawmakers to participate in the election.

Meanwhile, the Senate reconvened on Tuesday after a recess that allowed them back to their constituencies to participate in the national elections where Nigerians trooped out to vote in the presidential and National Assembly elections on Saturday.
