Fresh Gunmen Attack Reported In Kaduna State

Several people have been reportedly killed as gunmen launched a fresh attack on Kajuru local government area of Kaduna state.

Reports gathered by this online medium said most of the people affected are from Karmai village in Maro ward of the local government area.

Naija News recalls that about two weeks ago, Governor El-Rufai confirmed the killing of 66 persons in Kajuru Local Government Area by unknown gunmen.

Among the victims were 22 children and 12 women, while four wounded persons were rescued alive.

Later after a security meeting with President Buhari in Abuja, the Governor disclosed the death toll has risen to 130, up from the 66 he earlier announced.

Reacting to the latest development in a statement, Samuel Aruwan, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Gov. Nasir El-Rufai said the government condemns the attacks and killings in Kajuru and Kachia Local Government areas.

He added that the Kaduna State Government is saddened by the development and urged everybody to work for the restoration of peace in affected areas.

“Today, the Kaduna State Government was briefed by security agencies of renewed attacks in Kajuru Local Government area, and in parts of neighbouring Kachia Local Government area.

“The Kaduna State Government has been assured that the security agencies are working assiduously to contain the situation.

“The Government is saddened by these attacks, condemns the perpetrators and urges all residents of the area to support the security agencies in their efforts to protect communities,” the government said in a statement.
