1. Atiku insists on selling NNPC

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar on Wednesday, reiterated his plan to privatize the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), if elected as president in the February 23 election.

Naija News reports that the presidential candidate of the PDP reinstated his plans for the NNPC when he spoke at a town hall meeting with ward, local government and state party leaders in the state at the Kaduna Trade Fair Complex.

2. Rivers APC demands inclusion in Saturday’s elections

A letter has been forwarded to the Independent National Electoral Commission by the All Progressives Congress demanding that its candidates be included in the general elections rescheduled to hold this Saturday.

APC stated some various decisions of higher courts to justify its stance.

3. FEC supports Buhari’s order to “kill” ballot box snatchers

The Federal Executive Council has expressed support for President Muhammadu Buhari’s order to security personnel that anyone who attempts to snatch ballot boxes during the forthcoming polls will do so “at his own expense.”

This position was made known by the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed.

4. REC threatens to cancel Saturday’s re-scheduled elections

Delta State Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Dr Cyril Omoregbe, has threatened that he would cancel the rescheduled Presidential and National Assembly polls on Saturday.

Omoregbe said this while briefing journalists in Asaba on preparedness for the election, vowing that if the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, headquarters does not send all electoral materials to the state, he would not hesitate to cancel the election.

5. FG orders immediate payment of February salary to enable workers travel and vote

The federal government has ordered the immediate payment of February salary to its workers ahead of the normal 25th day of the month pay day.

Disclosing this after Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, Alh. Lai Mohammed, the minister of information, said this is to enable them travel and vote on Saturday.

6. Nigerian Air Force bombs Boko Haram in Borno State

The Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation LAFIYA DOLE has destroyed a Boko Haram Terrorist (BHT) camp and neutralized some of their fighters at a settlement called Arboko in Borno State.

The operation was conducted on 18 February 19 while a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Alpha Jet and an Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) platform were providing close air support to troops of 82 Brigade Nigerian Army.

7. 2019 Election: NIP presidential candidate withdraws from race, backs Atiku

The presidential candidate of the National Interest Party, Ms. Eunice Atuejide, on Wednesday stepped down for the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar.

Her decision is coming barely four days to the rescheduled presidential and National Assembly elections in the country, Naija News reports.

8. INEC draws final conclusion on Rivers APC

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has drawn a conclusion on the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State

INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, put an end to the matter when he addressed the press in Abuja today, stating that the APC will not be fielding candidates in the 2019 general elections.

9. Buhari swears in 8 new federal permanent secretaries

President Muhammadu Buhari, on Wednesday, swore in eight new Federal Permanent Secretaries at the council chamber of the presidential villa, Abuja.

The president inaugurated the permanent secretaries shortly before the commencement of the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.

10. INEC reveals when presidential election results would be released

The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has announced the deadline for result declaration of the 2019 Presidential Election.

The commission assured that the results would not take longer than the 2015 elections in spite of the sheer number of presidential candidates, size of the result sheets and increased voter population.
