A cult clash in Benin City, the capital of Edo State has seen three people feared killed between Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Police Command in the state confirmed that a 19-year-old Godspower Edobor was killed in the early hours of Wednesday on Omozeghiam Street, off Okhoro Road, Benin.

According to a Benin-based radio station, two others were killed at different locations in the metropolis.

A further report into the incident revealed that a man in his 40s identified as Africa was on Tuesday killed.

There was also one John Terry, whose head was smashed with a stone by his assailants.

The spokesman of the command, Chidi Nwabuzor, while speaking with journalists stated that several arrests had been made in respect to the killings.

He, however, did not specify the number of persons in police custody.

“Killings from clashes by rival cult groups have continued unabated in Edo State. The renewed clashes between the cult groups have claimed several lives; the police are aware of it and adequate security measures have been put in place.”
