With few hours to the Presidential and National Assembly elections in Nigeria, security agencies in Plateau State have conducted a show of force in the state.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Issac Akinmoyede while speaking with personnel before the exercise stated that the exercise was driven at ensuring peaceful elections in the state.

“show of force is not to intimidate members of the public but to let the residents know of its readiness to provide adequate security during the polls”.

“This show of force is to let residents of Plateau know that we are ready to secure lives and property as well as ensure the peaceful conduct of the elections.

“We are not going to intimidate anyone, but to further build public confidence on the security agencies working in the state,” he assured.

Akinmoyede spoke against the use of firearms and dangerous weapons during the election period and call on them to be civil during the process.
