Thugs Attack Osun Village, Set Buildings, Cars On Fire

Suspected political thugs have reportedly set ablaze five buildings in Igangan, a village in the Atakumosa East Local Government Area of Osun State.

A car belonging to a man identified as Folorunsho Aderibigbe, a indigene of Iwara town was burnt by the hoodlums.

Some residents of Igangan while narrating the incident stated that the thugs attacked the community around 8 pm on Sunday and set some buildings on fire.

“We were too scared to come out when the attackers came. We watched from where we hid as the arsonists set fire to buildings,”

Recall that on Thursday, February 14, an 11-year-old girl, Rukayat Balogun, was shot in the leg by suspected political thugs in Iwara.

The senatorial candidates of the All Progressives Congress and that of Peoples Democratic Party, Ajibola Famurewa and Francis Fadahunsi, respectively, had traded accusations over attacks in the area.

The commissioner of police in the state, Abiodun Ige, assured the residents of the communities that the police would beef up security in the areas.

He said, “Perpetrators of these crimes will be brought to justice. People should stop violence because anyone caught will be dealt with in accordance with the law.”
